History of Tolyatti
The city’s history dates back to 1737. It was established as a fortress by Vasily Tatishchev, the Russian statesman. Later on in the 1950s, the city gained popularity following the building of Kuybyshev Dam, Stavropol-on-Volga was the old name of city.
