A delegation from Iran commanded by deputy head of the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization Mortaza Rahmani Movahed, reached Moscow, Russia on Thursday. The agenda of this visit is to discuss cooperation in tourism with Russia's State Agency for Tourism.
Pavel Krukov, the Minister of Russian Culture and Communications said that Iran has many attractive places for tourists. He said that both the countries Russia and Iran are tourism destinations and should launch some two-way travel packages mutually.
In the year 2015, there is significant increase in the number of Iranian visitors in Russia. Nearly 34,000 Iranian tourists visited Russia in the first nine months of 2015, a rise of 111% when compared to the same period a year ago.
He further added:
"The landscape of Iran is diverse, providing a range of activities from hiking and skiing in the Alborz mountains, to beach holidays by the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea. Over the next five years a number of tourism-friendly infrastructure projects will be undertaken on the Persian Gulf island of Kish, which at present attracts around 1 million visitors per year." The marketing and publicity head, Mohammad Kazem Kholdi said that Iran was extremely happy on hosting Russian tourists in Iran. Further on this, ranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei said that Iran could abolish the visa regime for tourists.
In the end, it is concluded that Iranian airline Mahan Air will launch direct flights between Moscow and Tehran beginning January 21.
