On 5th April, 2016 in Moscow: Russian president Vladimir Putin announced the decree to abolish the Federal drug control service and Federal migration services(FMS). The Federal migration service is the department responsible for the implementation of policies made by state related to migration. This department is also performing the duties of issuing international passports and Russian invitation letters.
The decision was made to end the operations of these departments as individual agencies. This decision is made on the order of president of Russia. Now these two departments will work under the Ministry of internal affairs of Russia. The internal ministry is appointed as the head of the federal drug control and federal ministry.
"The speaker of the agency told that Alexandr Gorovoy, the deputy minister of internal affairs of the Russian Federation will be responsible for administering the operations of the unit along with the migration agency. Whereas, the deputy minister of internal Affairs Mr. Michael Vanichkin is appointed to handle the working of the drug control department."
Other than this, there are some more decisions that were taken by the Russian president on the day. It is concluded that the size of the state migration department will be reduced by 30%. Another decree signed to make national guard on the basis of internal troops of Ministry of internal affairs. This team will serve as a special force to fight against terrorism, crime and drug issues. The person who headed the security Service of the President, Mr. Viktor Zolotov will head the National Guard and act as a commander of internal troops.
The major change in the structure of both the departments will result into some new laws and policies. This will also impact the momentum of the activities going on in these department.
